Teo Mendez-Zfass, M.D. is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who focuses on both operative and non-operative management of sports-related injuries, musculoskeletal injuries and arthritis.
Dr. Mendez-Zfass is a native of Richmond, Virginia where he graduated high school from The Collegiate School. He then went on to attend the University of Virginia where he graduated in 2005 with dual bachelor degrees in physics and economics while also minoring in chemistry. He received his M.D. degree at Emory University School of Medicine in 2009. From 2009 to 2014 he served as a resident at the University of Miami at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was the chief administrative resident for the department of orthopedics from 2013 to 2014. During his tenure at the University of Miami, Dr. Mendez-Zfass participated in the care of athletes from the University of Miami and the Miami Marlins.
Following residency, Dr. Mendez-Zfass completed a sports medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital. During his fellowship he concentrated on minimally invasive and advanced arthroscopic techniques for the treatment of sports-related injuries and participated in the care of athletes from the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Manhattanville College, Hunter College, and various New York City high school teams. He is an Active Member of AAOS, AOSSM and Board Certified. He currently serves as the team physician for Queens College and York College. Dr. Mendez-Zfass has authored a variety of research articles and book chapters on a variety of topics in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine.
